Airport Hotels are getting ever more popular and expanding their market,
here Sarah Jane explores why.

For a long time, airport hotels were considered a necessary evil. Most of us
would do our upmost to not stay in one unless we had no other alternative.
They weren't enticing, exciting or, most of us felt they were a very
unnecessary expense. Now though, airport hotels, whether it be at Birmingham
Airport hotels or Gatwick airport hotels, are not only functional, they are
exciting.

The idea of sinking into a big comfy bed with fluffy pillows or refreshing
your self in a hot shower before you board an early morning flight is
appealing for many. Instead of thumping your way through the M6 to get to a
London based airport people are choosing to stay in the very functional
Gatwick Airport hotels. Any of the several hotels in and around the airport
offer excellent transport links and are much more seductive then a 4 hour
early morning, traffic ridden venture that we could do without.

Likewise in the heart of the Midlands, the ever popular Birmingham Airport
which takes you everywhere from Amsterdam, to Dubai, Malaysia and beyond has
a great range of airport hotels. Stay in the very swanky and ultra modern
Novotel or stay in the budget Ibis hotel which is directly opposite the
terminal. At these hotels you get to enjoy a good rest before you have an
early morning flight or following a late return.

Hotel companies are now beginning to wake up to the fact that airport hotels
represent a new, potentially significant source of profits. Why? First, as
the economy contracts, business will need to continue containing costs, and
airport hotels typically have lower rates. Second, after the building boom
of the past few years, competition among hotels is intense.

Many people are surprised by the functionality of airport hotels. Not only
are they a big seller because of their position to the airports, they offer
a host of other things. Many offer great airport parking deals, park your

car and have it kept in a secure place. Business travellers keep connected
on wifi, have a meeting in the bars, or entertain in the restaurants.
Families can enjoy family rooms and have their special requirements met. If
you are looking for a good night sleep at a Brimingham Airport hotel or
Heathrow Airport hotel etc, you will find something for you. Business
travellers, who maybe aren't paying the bill, can enjoy the bars and the
fabulous restaurants which are in some of the more luxury airport hotels.

Though it is not just families on a budget and business travellers who have
unlimited cash flow that can benefit from airport hotels. Airport hotels
have really worked hard to appear to a wider market. For example, if you are
a student or a couple getting an early flight from Heathrow, try out a night
in the Yotel located in Terminal 4. This Japanese designed, self checkin,
24-hour room service hotel is ideal.

Sarah Jane is an avid budget traveller, here she talks about making the best
of airport hotels including Gatwick Airport hotels and Birmingham Airport
Hotels.
